This is what the tires on the front of the Explorer looked like after a 1500 mile trip to the FSH.

The vehicle had a total of a little over 18,000 miles on it. The tire pressures and alignment were good. Even the rear tires were almost down to the wear bars but did not show any signs of chunking like the front tires did. They were just shitty tires is all.

The new tires I put on while I was there showed no signs of abnormal wear on the drive back.

Needless to say I will never buy Hankook tires again.

The wife's car got over 70,000 miles on a set of Hankook tires. They didn't really need replacing, but I did because they were eight years old.

Our friends that just moved here also have an Explorer with Hankook tires and no problems with theirs. Just a bad batch of tires it appears.

I have Hankook tires on my Tucson and so far my only complaint is they are a noisy as hell. I only have 20,000 Kim's on them

Banana juice can be very corrosive to anything rubber.

Read that somewhere,

once,

a very long,

time ago.

I have the same tires on my Explorer and at 21k miles showing very little wear. You should talk with Hankook about warranty replacement.

Too late Al. No way was I driving back home with those tires on the vehicle. I replaced them while I was in the Seattle area.

Silverback ... As Al suggested I would still contact either dealer or Hankook ... maybe you can shame them into paying you back for your trouble.

Send them the pictures. That should shame them.

I have Hankook tires on my Lightning with not very many miles. I hope they don't end up like those. Those are gnarly - very strange wear and deterioration.
