I watched it also and enjoyed it. Sure beats the crap that NASCAR tries to push off as racing. Barry should bring one of his cars and try that type of racing.

    Silver,
I was pretty amazed at them as well. I remember reading about Dakar back in the early 70s (think it was Paris to Dakar rally back then?), but hadn't seen or heard anything about it since. All of the vehicles were pretty impressive, but the trucks really take the cake--they do not seem to belong, yet trudge on.

I use to watch the Paris-Dakar every year but just haven't much for the last few years. They have changed the route a lot because it was going through too much of what is now hostile territory. They even cancelled the event for at least one year because some participants were being attacked. I think the motorcycles are the most impressive and by far the most skilled participants. Those guys are true athletes.

I watched stage 8 of this race last night and several of the vehicles and people are falling out. Those motorcycle riders take a beating for sure.

Do they still run the Baha 500? I used to watch that but haven't seen it listed for a few years.

I wonder why I can't find it on TV any more. The 1000 they used to show also.

That's true Evan, but I used to get it on other channels like I get the Australian Super Car races and some of the European rally races.
