    I really wonder how race cars would have evolved if not for all the regulations and restrictions they now have in place.

    The Ford GT and Corvettes are great examples where the street cars have more horsepower than the race cars.

    You can throw in the McLaren F1 in the same group. Top end on the road version was quite a bit faster than the race version.
