I know the feeling. A heat wave is hitting eastern Canada; we're three days in with no break in sight until next weekend.

Yesterday, I stepped out of the house to run some errands, and my sunglasses fogged up instantly from the heat and humidity. I couldn't see. Never had this happen before.

It's 6 am and it already feels like 33C (91F) out there. By mid afternoon it's forecast to be 45C (113F) with the humidex. Too much.

I hope our youngest daughter is OK. She's a camp counsellor at a Scouts Canada tent camp near Christie Lake. No air conditioning in any of the facilities. Hopefully she and the campers spend much of their time swimming.

    Bill,

It was 108 out here and at 3 AM it was still 82. I have to go to the doctor in the morning and the forecast said it should drop clear down into the mid 90s. And the real heat is yet to come if it is like most years here.

Wow - 106 and 108 - that is hot. Hope you don't have a bunch of humidity - like we do here - on top of that. I'm not sure we have hit 100 F in the last couple of years but we have been close the last couple of weeks.

    Dan,

Not a lot of humidity but a hot wind that seems to blow out here near the lake all the time. Everything is so dry that the least spark could start a major fire. And with the low humidity a fire with this wind would not be good.

Just thinking about temps above 100 is troubling for me. It's in the mid-90's here in Maryland. Retirement certainly feels good when I'm hiding from the heat. In my other thread about the grandson playing lacrosse.....Saturday it was 96 degrees with humidity near 60% during his tournament. Those boys had on helmets, shoulder chest and back pads, elbow pads, padded gloves and 2 shirts. OMG!

Well, you'll all hate us out here on the Wet Coast of Canada.

Rain, rain, and MORE rain, off and on for days.

    Highs of 18C. 64.40 F.

Boy, I sure hope Summer falls on a weekend this year.

High 80's and low 90's here with single digit humidity. Get's down in the low 60's at night.

    I'm loving it.

I just came in from mowing my weeds and the heat and dust are really bad. But I got them down before it got to 100 so that was a plus. Now to drink a gallon of water to replace what I sweated out.

Upper 90s and heat index around 105. Not much outdoor activity for me.

I saw that parts of Eastern Canada are getting some extremely humid weather. It mentioned something about the humidity cuasing temps to feel around 47* Celcius, which is approx 116*F. My friend is leaving BC to go back their on the 7th, and I told here she should stay here, until it cools down a bit.
I can't handle temps much above 75*F, so Redding would not be a place for me. I've actually been enjoying our cooler temps, as I can get much more done, around the house and yard.

Went to a 2:00 grave side funeral service for a close friend of ours today - one of his funeral preparation notes left to his wife was that he wanted a graveside service. Temps were up around 95 and humidity probably 50%. Most of the people attending were up in years and some a bit frail. His wife made a last minute executive decision to have the service held in the funeral home. Talk about a bunch of relieved family and friends.

Part of the service included an antidote she shared with the minister that when they were married they had a book of the ceremony prepared and they noticed afterwards that the work "obey" had been accidently left out of their vows - which apparently was a point of marital ribbing over the years. I told her later that I thought Oliver would have agreed with her change - I could almost hear his complaining if he had had to attend a grave side service under these samee conditions. She replied, "Well, I never agreed to obey."

We are getting the heat here in Northern VA ... high of 95 today but low humidity ...so at least in the mornings and evenings it is bearable.
