I think Carl's greatest concern is his house on the coast close to landfall. The forecast for that area has gotten worse.
Thanks Al G, it's nice getting local knowledge on this.

Sounds like what we get here Nomad. It seems that every report has something that is not the same as the others.

Al is correct; my concern is the house in NC. Northern Virginia looks like it will escape the brunt but may get remnants as the storm dissipates and turns back north early next week.

Here is a link to a camera on Bogue Inlet Pier at Emerald Isle, NC. This is about 8 miles East of our house.

    Hey Carl,

How did your house fare during this storm? Was it flooded or did the wind do any damage?

I just saw a recording of my daughter's house at Ocean Isle Beach and so far it looked OK. We are keeping our fingers crossed. At least they were all smart enough to get out of there.

Glad to hear that Jim. Hopefully their house will not be harmed in any way. As for the idiots that refused to leave when they were told to I would not risk anyones life to save them. Let them swim out or drown. We had two fire fighters killed here so far trying to save fools that refused to evacuate and unfortunately they got those fools out.

I haven?t seen the house yet ... as of yesterday the area was still getting a whole lot of rain.

Swansboro now has the official rainfall record for NC ... 30+ inches. The rivers in the area are expected to crest on Tuesday.

We are planning on going to the house on Tuesday if we can get through the roads.

I hope the house is OK. That is a lot of water the video shows. Not quite as much wind damage as I had expected to see but enough for sure.

    Folks,

I have been down in North Carolina dealing with our house ...

South Eastern NC is quite a mess ... lots of debris from the storm and cleanup. I will try to post some photos from our area when I can.

We had flooding in our living room, utility room and bathroom which will require new flooring in all three rooms. The air conditioning/heater and all the ducting is having to be replaced and our two 500 gallon propane tanks are lying on their sides. We lost several trees as well.

But we’re are blessed ... we’ve friends that lost their entire homes or still cannot even get to their homes.

We are relieved to hear the update.

Had been wondering ever since it struck how you would make out.

Sorry to hear about the damage, but overall it's minor compared to what could have been.

    Does insurance cover this?

Good luck. Sounds like it could have been worse, but still a mess to deal with.
