Exoto announces 1:14 scale 427 Cobra diecast

Yesterday I received an email from Exoto announcing that they soon plan to offer a large 1:14-scale diecast model of the 1965 Shelby 427S/C Cobra.

If you know Exoto, then you know that their diecast models are among the best in terms of accuracy and detail. And they're very expensive.

But if you know Exoto, then you also know that their "pre-orders" and "coming soons" can sometimes stay in limbo FOREVER, and their pricing can vary endlessly. So, be forewarned and forearmed.

Anyways, here are the details of the new model.

    Exoto no. RLG14010
    1:14 scale diecast model
1965 Shelby 427 Cobra in Guardsman Blue
    limited edition (427 pieces)

    Pre-order price of $1,795 USD (!!!)

I just spent $400+ on a Talbot Berlin 300 Jr mirror. I'll be damned if I can find another $1,xxx for something that I would use LESS than that mirror. LOL But, wow, I'm sure these models are top notch. I need to have my head examined......

I have bought a lot of die casts from Exoto and as Brian said, they are expensive but their detail is the best I have ever seen. I ordered the whole collection of the 6 original daytona coupe die casts back when they were releasing them and they released about 1 every 4 months. Because I got the complete set, they sent me a polished stainless steel one. I have had several people that were building replica Daytona Coupes ask if they could come by and look at these die casts and see just how the originals were. I have also been offered quite a bit more than I gave for them.

    Dean,

That price isn't much. They did have a Ferrari in their book that was $17,000, but you could order just the die cast of the engine for only $7,500. Just think, if you had that die cast you could put your mirror by it.

I'm surprised that Dean didn't point out that the side vent louvers aren't painted body colour on the Exoto model...
