    Nomad.

Pretoria, the City I live in, has a population of between 2 and 2 1/2 million people. On my "Pretoria Cobra Club" E-mail list, I've got about a hundred Cobra owners. Pretoria resides in the Gauteng province that has a population in access of twelve million people.

At it's peak, our Primary club, the "Cobra Club of South Africa" had a membership of about 450. Given all of them might not have been Cobra owners, but then again not all Cobra owners are Club members. In recent years, the CCSA has lost quite a few Cobras due to export, but then again, every now and then somebody finishes a "project" that has been laying around somewhere... To put this in perspective, the South African population is in access of 50 million people.

    Thank's for replying "Q".
The Island I reside on is 12 square miles, population is 1,100................. 1,101 counting me.
The population of Canada is 34 million, so it appears that you have us beat.
I shall have to try and even the odds.
I'll have to get my wife's permission first.

    Cheers

    Nomad,

Are you going to borrow some of Hot Fingrs girls for this endeavor? If so, let me know and I will be happy to come help you.

    Hi GL10DR

I posted the full picture under the Non Cobra Car Show pictures, but if you didn't know what to look for, you would have missed it.

Since this is the Cobra Pictures thread I'll try to justify this picture by saying that this Beetle is a 2 door roadster and that the "original" Cobras actually used a VW Beetle part, according to this article:

"Because of the success of the early models, the Mark II version of the AC Cobra was created by early 1963, complete with rack and pinion steering while still incorporating the transverse leaf spring suspension. Interestingly enough, the steering column was borrowed from the VW Beetle, which the steering rack came from the MGB, making the AC Cobra a product consisting of parts from three countries".

And the original GT-40s that won at LeMans used a Chevy part.

    James,

That is right. They were the lightest they could find at the time and anything to save an ounce.

On 2012-02-19, the Pretoria Cobra Club had a planned run to the Square Time Cafe. This cafe is situated next to a small lake in one of the eastern suburbs of Pretoria. After weeks of beautiful sunshine weather, it all changed the night before the run. The rain came down in buckets. Half an hour before the get together time, it was still touch and go. So it was totally understandable that more than half of the attendees pitched up in tin-tops. But it was also nice to see that amid the threatening rain, seven Cobras still pitched up at the venue.

As per usual I'll start with the group shots...

... and one artsy type picture to make the four count.

    And one of Dirk's Cobra.

    Q,

Those are great pictures and I see one Cobra in there that looks a lot like Nomads. But the steering wheel is on the wrong side unless he switched his to get into your group.
