From what was said over at the other site at the time, there was a $300K or $400K bet between these guys.
the bet was the cost of the Ferrari which was around 400K. The Ferrari was owned by some over priced attorney, and the Cobra by a professional gambler from Vegas.
I know this thread is a few months old, but thought that I'd chime in that the Ferrari owner was from the DC area and some of our local guys went with him to "practice" at a local drag strip so he could race local cobras. He ran mid 11s pretty much every time without much variance. I understand he's a pretty big gambler too.
If I remember right the Cobra guy had the track sprayed down with new prep so he would be able to hook up much better than normal. His cobra also has north of 700hp.

Yep, it was a big deal at the time over on the other Cobra site. I even thought of going to Las Vegas to watch it, but as usual, work came first.
