    Flip-Top Cobras

While doing research on flip-top cobras, I found a few attemps. I'm sure there are more out there. If anyone has pictures, please post them.

My first Corvette (a C4) was so much easier to work on because of the flip forward clamshell of a hood that generation had. My C5 Z06, compartatively speaking, is more difficult to get at everything (especially for detailing). Some ideas are great, but the execution also has to be spot on (i.e. the C4's had a nice parting line on the fender to "hide" the trailing edge of the clamshell...it just blended into the side of the car).

That's my car. I'll post more photos as we near completion.
The next car (Wild Bills) was one of the ones that inspired me to do a flip top. Well, that and CSX 2193 'the turd'.

This one is our car. We'll post more pics as it progresses.
The next car (Wild Bill's) was one of the ones that inspired us to do a tilt front.

    darren,
Can you explain those funky cut up wheel pedestals you have for the auto shows?
Is it patterned after the COBRA II wheels?

We made them for the Grand national Roadster Show. (took 2nd place) They started out as a 300lb block and after 18 hours of mill time... Done! We scanned a trigo wheel and modified the image. They are still a hit at the shows. I'm not into the show circuit anymore. I found my way to the track. I do plan to hit some of the larger shows with flip-top next year. Darren

If I ever build another cobra it would be a flip top (really just the front clip) as working on it, especially the engine bay would make things so much easier !

    Kevin,
    I just saw your post.
That's our car. The bodywork is done, it's primed and ready for paint. Got the booth scheduled for mid-September. Recently got the motor (see pic in the engine photos thread) so we should have it on the road on in a few months. Can't wait to 'get er done'.
